6 June to 28 August 1944

Participated in the capture of Saipan and Tiaiea as a screening unit for a fast battleship - fast carrier force. Operated extensively with the assault forces and conducted numerours shore bombardment  missions.

19 June 1944

Participated in the Battle of the Philippine Sea as part of the fast battleship formation. Underwent attacks by enemy carrier based planes.

31 August to 3 September 1944

Participated in the air strikes against Iwo Jima and Chichia Jima Islands as a screening unit of a fast carrier task group.

6-8 September 1944

Participated in the air and surface bombardments of the Yap Islands in company with units of a fast carrier force.

11-18 September 1944

Participated in the operations supporting the amphibious assault on the Palau Islands as a part of a fast carrier group providing direct air support.

10-11 October 1944

Participated in the air strikes against Okinawa Jima as a part of the screen of a fast carrier task group.

11-15 October 1944

Participated in the air strikes against Formosa as a part of the screen of a fast carrier task group. Underwent numerous daylight and dusk bombings and torpedo attacks by enemy shore based planes.

17-19 October 1944

Participated in the air strikes against Northern Luzon as a screening unit of a fast carrier task group.

20-24 October 1944

Participated in the operations supporting the amphibious assaults on Leyte Island, P. I., as a part of a fast carrier group providing direct air support.

25 October 1944

Participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf ( Cape Engano Phase) operating with a cruiser-destroyer striking force which resulted in the sinking of one Japanese aircraft carrier during daylight and an unidentified cruiser type vessel during darkness.

26-31 October 1944

Participated in the operations which provided direct air support for the newly established positions in the Central Philippines as a part of a fast carrier group. Formation underwent several attacks by Japanesesuicide aircraft. Ship rescued many survivors from friendly ships.

13-22 November 1944

Participated in air support operations covering convoy lanes to the Philippine Islands as a part of the screen of an escort carrier group.

2-31 December 1944

Participated in the operations which provided air and surface support for the amphibious assault on Mindoro Island in the Philippine Archipelago as a part of the screen of the 7th Fleet units in the Mindanao and Sulu Seas. Underwent numerous and repeated attacks by Japanese torpedo planes, bombers, and suicide planes.

3-17 January 1945

Participated in the operations which provided direct air support in Lingayen Gulf, Luzon Island, as a part of the screen of an escort Carrier group operating in the South China Sea. Under repeated attacks of several days duration by Japanese suicide airplanes. Rescued numerous survivors from the escort carrier OMMANEY BAY.

6 February to 11 March 1945

Participated in the operations which provided direct air support for the amphibious assault on Iwo Jima as a part of the screen on an escort carrier group. Rescued scores of survivors from the escort carrier BISMARK SEA during darkness.

17 March to 11 June 1945

Participated in support of capture and occupation of Okinawa Jima operating with the escort carrier group during the period prescribed.  Underwent numerous attacks from suicide planes.
