This flag was placed in the windows of
homes which had
a family member serving in the Navy. This flag is 7 1/2" by 10".
My grandmother would have had a five star flag displayed in her window: three
stars for her three sons, Byron W. Frierson, James E. Frierson and Roy E. Frierson, two
stars for her two sons-in-laws John E. Minton and my father Robert Austin Coburn, Sr.
Byron served in the 63 Infantry Division 254th
Regiment.
James (Gene) served in the the Medical Administration Corps.
Roy served in the 103rd
Infantry Division 411th Regiment Company G.
John served in the Army Air Corps.
